Drone-Pictures presents the Inspire 3
Marseille – Provence – Southern France
A new era for high-end aerial cinematography
With the arrival of the Inspire 3, now replacing our Inspire 2 fleet, Drone-Pictures is taking a major leap forward in delivering high-end aerial imagery, fully aligned with the upcoming European regulations (EASA), which will apply to our operations starting in 2026. This next-generation drone opens the door to ambitious productions in cinema, advertising, music videos, premium documentaries and high-end corporate films, all seeking ultra-cinematic images. One of the most valuable features of the Inspire series — and the Inspire 3 in particular — is the ability to fly in dual-operator mode, with a pilot focused on navigation and a camera operator dedicated solely to framing. Each has their own remote and real-time HD video feed. This is ideal for dynamic and precise tracking shots: vehicles on circuits, boats at high speed, or complex moves in urban and industrial environments — up to 90 km/h — while maintaining full flight safety.Demo clip of the Inspire 3 drone in flight, filmed by our Mavic 4 Pro, at the Domaine de Saint-Ser, Puyloubier
A platform designed for image professionals The Inspire 3 is the natural and brilliant successor to the Inspire 2, which has been a cornerstone of our fleet for nearly 8 years, used on countless high-end productions. From filming Ferrari at Circuit du Castellet, to tracking yachts, cruise ships, container ships or supertankers, and working on automotive ads, music videos or English-speaking series, the Inspire 2 proved its reliability and visual quality in all conditions. But a new chapter begins. The Inspire 3 is a cutting-edge aerial cinematography platform, unlike anything else in DJI’s lineup. It’s the only drone combining dual-operator control and interchangeable lenses, with full-frame coverage from 14mm to 90mm, capable of shooting up to 8.1K at 75 fps in ProRes RAW. Quite simply: outstanding.
What the Inspire 3 truly brings to your drone shootings
✦ A revolution in user experience
While we’re back on familiar ground as drone pilots and camera operators, it’s clear the ecosystem has evolved. The DJI Pilot 2 app is now more powerful, faster, more stable and intuitive. The piloting is smoother, automation more precise, and — most importantly — image quality reaches unprecedented heights in the drone cinematography world.
Thanks to its global shutter, optional RTK precision system, intelligent modes like Waypoints Pro, Repeatable Routes, and Spotlight Pro, and flawless integration into professional workflows (timecode, LUTs, ProRes RAW and CinemaDNG support), the Inspire 3 offers flexibility and creative control even for demanding DOPs and directors used to RED or ARRI Alexa setups. In fact, the Inspire 3 is one of the very few drones offering visual and technical compatibility with those cinema cameras.
Perfect for high-end film, TV, and advertising productions, the Inspire 3 seamlessly matches ground-based footage from RED/Alexa cameras (see below for details).
It was for this reason that, in April 2025, Netflix made the Inspire 3 the first drone approved for use in its Originals productions!

✦ Seamless compatibility with RED and ARRI Alexa cameras
The Inspire 3 with Zenmuse X9-8K Air was designed to meet cinema production standards, both technically and artistically — in image quality, dynamic range, codecs, and post-production workflow. It’s no longer just a “drone with good image” — it’s a flying cinema camera, able to stand alongside the industry’s top gear.
🔹 Cinematic image quality
- Full-frame 35mm sensor, equivalent to a RED V-Raptor or Alexa LF — for similar depth of field, bokeh and low-light control
- Dual native ISO (320 & 1600) and wide dynamic range up to 14+ stops, ensuring perfect matching on high-contrast or natural light scenes
- Sophisticated color science, with support for cinema LUTs (REC709, D-Log, etc.) — simplifying grading consistency
🔹 Professional recording codecs
- Apple ProRes and CinemaDNG RAW are post-production standards used in RED/Alexa workflows, ensuring:
- Seamless editing and grading with no transcoding
- Maximum preservation of detail, color and exposure latitude
- Native RAW recording for full creative control
🔹 Editorial consistency
- DL-mount prime lenses and D-Log gamma allow Inspire 3 footage to perfectly match RED Komodo/V-Raptor or Alexa Mini shots, maintaining textural and tonal consistency
- High resolution (up to 8.1K) supports cropping, stabilization, or VFX work with no visible loss, just like RED 6K/8K footage
✦ Unmatched flight stability and smoothness
Compared to the Inspire 2, flight stability has significantly improved. This enables slow, low, or extremely tight tracking shots with zero jitters — even in wind — for precise and cinematic movement. Key features include:- Dolly 3D with programmable waypoints, for repeatable flight paths — ideal for parallax shots or multi-take sequences
- Customizable Tripod Mode, for ultra-slow, ultra-precise motion — great in tight indoor or architectural environments
✦ RC Plus remote: built for the set
The new RC Plus controller elevates on-set comfort:- Zero-latency HD video feeds for both pilot (via FPV camera) and camera operator (via X9-8K Air)
- 7-inch ultra-bright touchscreen, built-in, no external monitor needed
- Comprehensive ports: HDMI, USB, USB-C for director’s village or live monitoring
- Long battery life, ergonomic design, and harness-supported weight distribution
✦ Optimized autonomy & hot-swappable batteries
The Inspire 3 runs on two TB51 batteries, offering a real-world flight time of 15 to 17 minutes (not the 26–28 mins advertised!). Better still: batteries are hot-swappable, allowing you to replace one at a time without powering off, keeping connections intact and saving valuable shoot time.
✦ Unrivaled image quality = limitless creativity
The Zenmuse X9-8K Air pushes the boundaries:- Full-frame 35mm sensor for crisp detail, rich dynamic range and shallow DOF
- Dual ISO, with clean low-light performance even at ISO 6400 — ideal for dawn, dusk or night shoots
- 4K slow-motion at 120 fps, perfect for stylized sequences
- 70° upward tilt with no props in frame (from 18mm upward), thanks to the front-mounted gimbal — a game-changer for architectural or creative shots
✦ Professional formats and codecs
The Inspire 3 supports all industry-grade recording formats:- Apple ProRes 422 HQ and ProRes RAW
- CinemaDNG RAW
- H.264 (for lightweight workflows)
✦ Interchangeable DL prime lenses: cinema-style control
Our current lens kit includes:
DJI DL 18mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm f/2.8 LS ASPH
LAOWA DL 9mm f/2.8 (14mm equivalent in Super35mm – max 5.5K resolution)
DL 75mm available on request
✦ Full compliance with EU and French regulations – C5 kit
Our Inspire 3 is equipped with the C5 European classification kit and Flying-Eye parachutes, making it fully compliant with urban flight scenarios under STS-01 (Specific category) and DGAC S3 regulation in France.
Why choose Inspire 3 over a solo-operator drone like the Mavic 4 Pro?
While we also offer the Mavic 4 Pro for lightweight, single-operator jobs, it simply cannot match the image quality, flexibility, or production value of the Inspire 3. If your project calls for cinematic movement, artful framing, and high-end visuals, Inspire 3 is the clear choice.
It provides full crew separation, anticipation of complex shots, and a level of visual quality and versatility unmatched by compact drones.
