Recently, we carried out a drone inspection mission for a consulting firm specializing in building envelopes at the Abbaye de Roseland residence in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes). This 10-story, 90-meter-long building required a detailed assessment of the condition of its balconies and terraces.
The goal? Identify every crack, waterproofing issue, or structural defect that could affect the building’s safety and longevity. To achieve this, our client —a building expert—needed high-resolution photos to analyze the façade’s condition and propose the necessary interventions to the property management.
Drones: An Essential Tool for Façade Inspections
In this type of mission, drones prove to be indispensable. Unlike traditional methods (scaffolding, aerial lifts, or rope access), drones offer quick, safe, and cost-effective access to hard-to-reach areas while capturing highly detailed and instantly usable images.
Using our DJI Mavic 3 Pro, equipped with a 70mm focal length and a 48MP sensor, we were able to zoom in on the finest details, providing an exceptionally clear view of potential defects.
In just a few hours of flight, we captured 360 ultra-high-resolution images, which were delivered to our client the same day. This rapid turnaround allowed them to immediately analyze the data and prepare an accurate technical diagnosis.
Once again, this mission highlights the efficiency and unmatched value of drone technology for building inspections!
