Back in August 2017, Drone-Pictures filmed the arrival of the Marco Polo caisson carrier in Marseille, transported aboard the semi-submersible vessel MV Sunrise.
On July 22, 2026, almost nine years later, we had the unique opportunity to document the Marco Polo’s final departure from the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille.
The operation included towing the vessel from the Digue du Large, navigating across the port and finally loading it onto the semi-submersible heavy-lift vessel ALMA.
More than six hours of complex operations, involving over 30 sailors and specialists, were captured through aerial photography and video using our DJI Mavic 4 Pro, with all the necessary authorizations for operating in this restricted port area.
After playing a major role in Monaco’s offshore extension project, the Marco Polo is now leaving Marseille for a new chapter in Taiwan.
